This year's APEGBC Vancouver E-fest was a great success.
This
event,
now in it's 13th year, was held on February 28, 2009 at the Promenade
of the Vancouver Public Library Central Branch. E-fest is our Branch's
main public outreach event and thousands of visitors learned about our
professions and our achievements. There was a broad representation of
industry representatives, engineering organizations and student
projects. The hands-on displays were a hit with children and adults
alike. New at this year's E-fest included two wood catapults, one made
by highschool students, and one made by university students. Also,
there were two new student project teams, the Sailbot Project and UBC
Solar Car Team, and several engineering and geoscience organizations
including Odessey of the Mind Program and Sandwell Engineering. A warm
thank you goes out to all the volunteers and organizations that went
beyond the call of duty of their jobs to promote and enhance our
profession. E-fest has proven to be a great opportunity for people in
our community to see first-hand how the many facets of engineering and
geoscience affect our everyday lives. We could not have done it without
the outstanding support from the volunteers.
