Details: Being a Female Business Professional can be extremely stressful. This is because not only are we expected to do our job; there are also so many other demands on our time, energy and resources.  Many times these various demands are in conflict and we can feel ourselves pulled in multiple directions as we try to meet them all. That is why the presentation "The 3 Massive Mistakes Even Smart Business Professionals Make That Keep Them Overstressed, Unhappy and Unhealthy" is so enlightening. First it will show you the mistakes that you might be making.  Then it will reveal what is the true cause of the problems you might be experiencing.  Last, it will show you what you can do to be calm, confident and in control – no matter what is happening, or not happening in your life.

Details: In the BrownBag discussion SCWIST will talk about the choices and issued to consider at different stages in careers. The participation of professional women in STEM is the core of this program. Your experience and advice will enrich the outcome of the meetings, inspire students and help them build the self-confidence they need to achieve their goals. At every meeting there is a facilitator as well as role models to contribute to the discussion. For the Career Transitions topic, SCWIST would like to invite academics, from post-doctoral fellows to professors, as well as women working outside of academia who can provide another perspective of career paths after undergraduate or graduate school. DAWEG December 6th Memorial and Social

Details: DAWEG will be hosting the December 6th Memorial and Social to mark the 22nd anniversary of the tragedy at Ecole Polytechnique. This event is for all APEGBC members, male and female. It is a great evening in which we can share and acknowledge our professional and personal accomplishments. A portion of the registration fee will go to the Canadian Engineering Memorial Foundation.

 

WWEST Creating Connections 2.0

Creating Connections 2.0 is a conference that will bring together 150 women in engineering from across BC and Yukon, ranging from students to senior professionals, to UBC’s Point Grey Campus to make connections that provide support, networking, mentoring and partnerships.  The conference features 12 diverse sessions with renowned speakers and panelists, keynote speakers, and an evening networking banquet.

SCWIST Beach Potluck
