At the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC, we believe the future success of the professions depends on our ability to attract intelligent, articulate and highly qualified students to careers in engineering and geoscience. Throughout their undergraduate years, university students in engineering and geoscience are introduced to the value the Association brings to British Columbians through its regulation of the practices of professional engineering and geoscience for the safety of the public and the protection of our environment.

Only persons licensed by APEGBC may use the titles “Professional Engineer” and “Professional Geoscientist” in BC and only those licensed may practice professional engineering and geoscience in this province. For these reasons, the Association offers numerous services, available to APEGBC members, students and teachers, to direct young and enthusiastic minds to these two exciting professions.

APEG-MAPS (University Students)
The Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC recognizes that today's students are the future of the professions and is here for you through our Membership Advantage Program for Students (APEG-MAPS), a special class of membership in APEGBC that allows students to begin shaping their future.

APEGBC 2012 Science Games
Teams of students from Grade 1 - 6 will explore the principles and theories of science first hand at the 2012 APEGBC Science Games on March 31, 2012 at the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre.

The APEGBC Science Games is an interactive science competition which allows students to investigate how science affects their everyday lives. Students work together on a set of applications or problem solving challenges which demonstrate the interesting and entertaining side of scientific exploration.

Scholarships
Various scholarships and bursaries are offered by the APEGBC Foundation, Branches, and Divisions that recognize outstanding student achievements and contributions to the advancement of the professions.

Teachers' Resources
If encouraged to develop early math and science skills, young students learn how to become real-world problem solvers – the foundation for an engineer or geoscientist. Direct your students to the limitless horizons an education in engineering or geoscience can provide them.

Outreach
Engineering and geoscience are important to BC’s future, and we want to encourage students to consider careers in engineering and geoscience in order to ensure that the professions continue to thrive in the years to come. If you are proud of your profession, enthusiastic about your work, and enjoy talking to students and the public about engineering and geoscience, get involved in this vital initiative by signing up to be a Career Awareness Volunteer.

Engineering and Geoscience: Shaping Our World
Have you ever wondered who created your favourite ride at your local amusement park? Or who designed the roads and highways that we use every day to get us where we need to be? Or how the natural resources we depend on - like water, petroleum, and minerals - are collected from the earth and made into something we can use?

From building airports to designing rollercoasters to predicting landslides, engineering and geoscience can take you almost anywhere! Watch how real engineers and geoscientists are using their ideas and ingenuity to solve problems and shape the world we live in.
