Cobra Electric (South Coast) Ltd incorporated in 2004, is a Lower Mainland based, full-service electrical contracting company providing electrical services throughout the South Coast area of British Columbia including all provincial highways, bridges, and tunnels on behalf of the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure.

We provide a diverse list of services including electrical maintenance, installation, inspection, quality audit, and project management. Our primary focus is the provincial, regional, and municipal transportation infrastructure sector.

Position Details

Reporting to the Manager Engineering and Quality, the Operations Engineer key responsibilities include:
  • Overall responsibility to ensure the Quality Management System is updated as required including management of the Quality Audit processes.
  • Using our Computerized Maintenance Management System (SERVACE), ensure all maintainable inventory is continuously updated; monitor maintenance functions to ensure compliance with customer specific performance specifications.
  • Develop safe work practices (coordinating with our Corporate Safety Advisor) and detailed written work procedures for new types of equipment, to ensure Worksafe BC and contractual requirements are continuously met.
  • Facilitate the production of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as per individual customer requirements.
  • Provide technical support to our electrical crews regarding the introduction and training of new technologies.
  • Review existing practices and identify opportunities for maintenance process improvements.
  • Other related responsibilities and duties based on capabilities.

Required Qualifications 

  • Graduate with a relevant degree in electrical or civil engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or actively working towards achievement of designation.
  • Eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer with APEGBC is required.
  • Minimum of two years of experience working in an industrial environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and environmental excellence.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communications skills, both oral and written.
  • Advanced computer skills including management of databases, spreadsheets, and report preparation.
Cobra Electric (South Coast) Ltd offers a very competitive compensation package which includes medical/extended health and dental coverage, group life insurance, and participation in the BC Public Service Pension Plan. Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
