APEGBC is hosting a Student and Industry Night at UBC's Okanagan Campus. This fun and casual evening provides a great opportunity for industry professionals to share their knowledge, career anecdotes, and advice with engineering students. It's also a great opportunity to socialize and network with fellow engineers.

Schedule

6:00 PM – 6:30 PM: Registration and refreshments
6:30 PM – 7:30 PM: Presentations
7:30 PM – 9:00 PM: Networking and refreshments

Complimentary appetizers, tea, and coffee will be served at this event.

Speakers

John Hillis, EIT
Structural Engineer in Training, Weiler Smith Bowers Consulting Structural Engineers

John Hillis is a recent graduate of UBCO's civil engineering program. He is currently working as a structural Engineer-in-Training at Weiler Smith Bowers Consulting Structural Engineers.
 

Diego Mandelbaum, P.Eng, LEED AP BD+C
Associate, Buildings Engineering, Stantec

Diego Mandelbaum, P.Eng., graduated from the engineering program at UBC's Okanagan Campus in 2011 and is now an Associate for Stantec Consulting. Diego leads the multi-disciplinary Buildings Engineering practice in Kelowna, BC, and designs HVAC and related energy systems for institutional, industrial, and commercial building types.
 
Having a passion for sustainability and energy efficient design, Diego received his LEED AP with a Building Design and Construction specialty in 2011 and strives to incorporate sustainability principles into all of his projects. Diego formed the Okanagan Section of ASHRAE in 2013 and is the current Section President. Diego has also guest lectured for UBC's Okanagan Campus's fourth year Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning class.
