Peter Mitchell, P.Eng., on behalf of APEGBC, will facilitate a discussion and presentation for the Okanagan Branch regarding corporate practice and regulation.

We invite association members and stakeholders to learn about the issues and considerations involved in APEGBC's evaluation of corporate practice, and to provide consultation and input on this topic. For background information and more, see apeg.bc.ca/corporatepractice

This presentation addresses several issues currently being examined, including:

  • How do organizations influence the practice of engineering and geoscience by individuals?
  • Would the regulation of companies by APEGBC realistically serve the goal of improving public protection?
  • What, if any, types of organizations should be covered by corporate regulation?
  • Which, if any, regulatory model would be best suited for BC?

Please join us in this discussion to also find out more about APEGBC's voluntary OQM program developed to improve the quality management of professional engineering and geoscience practices at the individual and organizational levels and offers certification to participating organizations. Certification has been shown to result in benefits such as insurance discounts, increased operational efficiency, industry recognition and demand, as well as increased regulatory compliance and exemptions from random professional practice reviews.
