Engineers and Geoscientists BC’s WIEG Division is shutting down as a result of organizational changes resulting from the creation of a new engineering and geoscience advocacy body.
Engineers and Geoscientists BC continues to be committed to supporting women in the professions through the new Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) and Truth and Reconciliation (T&R) Working Group (launching in April 2024).
The founders of DAWEG and other concerned engineers and geoscientists have come together, creating this multi-location, interconnected, live-streamed event to explore the future of networking, outreach, and advocacy for women in engineering.
The in-person event is located in the University of Victoria’s Engineering and Computer Science Building, Room ECS660. There will be other concurrent venues where groups can meet to participate together virtually. Sites could include Vancouver, Kelowna, Nanaimo, Kamloops, and elsewhere. Individuals can also connect directly.
For details, see
daweg.ca, a new site for the support of this event and the future of connecting women in engineering and geoscience. This site is being offered for the use of women in engineering and geoscience across the province of BC.
The fishbowl format seats three to four speakers in a circle in the centre of the room. These speakers are influencers in fostering inclusion for women in engineering and geoscience. Audience participation is invited as speakers temporarily join the circle and engage in the discussion.
