Environment Ministry Seeks Expert Review for Updated Water Quality Guidelines

The BC Ministry of Environment is updating the source drinking water and recreation water quality guidelines as part of its 2016 Human Health Water Quality Guidelines Update, and seeks subject matter experts to review the revised guidelines. The draft source drinking water quality guidelines are now available and open for external review.

As the recreation water quality guidelines are directly adopted from Health Canada, only the source drinking water quality guidelines are available for review. The irrigation water quality guidelines for ready-to-eat crops and the fish-tissue consumption guidelines are still being reviewed and will be updated at a later date.

The deadline for submitting comments is September 11, 2016. For information on how to submit comments, please visit the Government of B.C.’s website.

Please note: All external review comments received on draft water quality guidelines will be posted on the website and made available to all interested parties. Submissions must include the reviewer’s name and affiliation (if any).
